Some years ago, as an adolescent, I set off to start writing in an attempt to tell about situations of my life or of other people's life that I had been called to witness.

Happiness, sadness, dreams and ironic destinies have been filling pages in notebooks and with the advent of technology into my life, pages and pages in Word format.

'I don't quite know if I really am doing it well, but I can state that I do it sincerely."

PRIZES

In January 1991, a jury made up by Manuél Marticorena Quintanilla, Ricardo Virhuez Villafane, and Manuel Mosquera issued an unanimous decision for the first price to "City of Iquitos" by Rafael Diaz, in the National Competition of Short Stories to Rafael Diaz with the story entitled "The Intellectual Game."

THE INTELLECTUAL GAME*

On the game board, angry pawns decided to go on a strike.
They armed themselves with sticks and with shiny eyes, got on their horses, which angrily decided to take part in the complaint and all together headed out in search for the king and queen.. Fussed bishops had taken over the castles and meanwhile, on one of the white squares, the king and his queen made love in a sovereign orgy.
They were caught by surprise by the union members, who angrily killed the kings and then, rejoiced and enjoyed the queens.
